Our lab has focused on the transcriptional and epigenetic regulation of cardiovascular development. Recent studies indicate that the commitment of multipotent cardiovascular progenitors to the myocyte lineage can be precisely determined and is, in part, regulated by transcriptional repression of alternate fates and of the uncommitted state. Implications for cardiac regeneration and congenital heart disease will be discussed.
