Meeting Agenda/Notes

Dopamine functions as a paracrine/autocrine signal in the pancreatic islets, producing a tonic inhibition of glucose-stimulated insulin secretion. The dopamine receptor D3 is expressed in the islets, and its activation changes the intracellular calcium activity in the β-cell. In this talk I discuss the experiments designed to investigate the molecular mechanisms by which the dopamine receptor D3 causes these changes.
