Presentation Title | Screening for Factors that Promote Retinal Regeneration |
Status | This meeting has already occurred |
My laboratory studies the development and regeneration of the mouse retina. Our particular developmental focus is on the multipotent progenitor cells; how they contribute to tissue growth, and how they generate each retinal cell type in different proportions and times during a limited developmental window. With respect to retinal regeneration, mice, like humans, lack this property, but other vertebrates can regenerate, and in very different ways. In this presentation, I will give a brief overview of retinal regeneration and describe our current and future efforts to stimulate retinal regeneration in mice.
