David A. Jacobson, PhD
Associate Professor, Molecular Physiology and
Biophysics
Research Specialty:
Islet expression, islet
ion channel regulation
Research Description:
Pancreatic Islet
Expression and Function of Two-Pore Domain Potassium
Channels
The Jacobson lab has been working with rodent islets to study glucose and anesthesia sensitive K2P channel regulation. Dr. Jacobson hopes to identify how anesthesia can affect blood sugar, opening up new possibilities for the treatment of diabetes.
Regulation of Islet Electrical Activity and Hormone Secretion by L-type Calcium Channel Phosphorylation
The Jacobson lab has also been studying how human and rodent
islets regulate hormone secretion through Ca2+ channels.
Understanding this mechanism will provide new insight on how these
channels regulate islet hormone secretion and allow for the
development of new treatment for diabetes.
