VGER: Policies Master

I recognize that the Vanderbilt Genome Editing Resource (VGER) receives funding from the NIH, and that the NIH is committed to supporting national and international efforts that encourage the sharing and dissemination of important research resources. Thus, in order comply with this policy, and following the initial characterization and peer-reviewed publication of any transgenic mouse strain generated using the services of the VGER, I agree to freely distribute all mice derived using this resource to investigators at academic institutions wanting to use them for non-commercial research. Specifically, I will 1) honor all requests for shipment of mice to AAALAC (Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care International) accredited institutions, 2) request that recipient investigators provide written assurance that the animals will be used solely in accord with their local IACUC review, 3) request that the mice not be further distributed beyond the recipient’s laboratory without my written consent as the donating investigator, and that 4) no VGER-generated animal will be used for commercial purposes with notification and agreement by the Vanderbilt Center for Technology Transfer and Commercialization.
