We would like to extend a big thank you to everyone who rode and/or raised money for this year’s American Diabetes Association (ADA) Nashville Tour de Cure and Team Vanderbilt. We had an extremely successful ride on Saturday, June 11, putting us over 200 riders for both of our rides. So far in this year’s ADA Tour de Cure we have raised over $107,000 for diabetes research with much of that money staying in Nashville to fund research, including at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

About Team Vanderbilt

Once again, Team Vanderbilt was the largest fund raising team in this year’s Nashville area ADA Tour de Cure, raising a little over $28,500, just short of our $30,000 goal.

It's is not too late to turn money in or give donations that will aid us in reaching the $30,000 mark.

Team Vanderbilt also had four of the top eight fund raisers, including:

  • Janie and Kevin Hagan (the top two fund raisers in this year’s Tour de Cure)
  • Charles Jones (Team Vanderbilt Co Captain)
  • We also had a new rider, Will Williams (son of VUMC employee Carole Williams), on our Vanderbilt Team this year who worked hard to become a Tour De Cure Champion (Champion = some who raised over $1,000)

Acknowledgements

Thank you to those who rode in the Tour de Cure in the April 23rd Executive Ride and the June 11th Tour ride. Also a big thank you to all who gave donations to our Vanderbilt team members. Please thank your family, friends, and colleagues - all who supported this important endeavor to raise money in hopes of finding a cure to help people with diabetes.

Also, we would like to acknowledge our volunteers and contributors at Vanderbilt who helped make this year’s ride such a big success:
 - Terri Ray
 - Carole Williams
 - Melissa Bailey
 - Jan Hicks (Member, ADA Tour de Cure Committee)
 - Jill Forbert and Vanderbilt Marketing
 - Jill Clendening and Vanderbilt Public Affairs

Next Year’s Tour de Cure ‘17

We are already looking forward next year’s fun and exciting ADA Tour de Cure fund raising ride. We hope you all will be back next year. We had many first time riders for Team Vanderbilt this year. Let’s each try to get at least one more rider for our Team Vanderbilt for next year to make it even more fun and have even more Team Vanderbilt riders wearing our sharp Vanderbilt bicycling jerseys in next year’s ride.

We will see you then!
