|Presentation Title||Title: Molecular mechanisms of overnutrition-induced β cell neogenesis in zebrafish|

Overnutrition induces rapid β cell differentiation in larval zebrafish but how overnutrition is sensed and what factor(s) mediates the differentiation remain unknown. I will present data showing that persistent activation of β cell secretion and FGF1 are necessary for overnutrition-induced β cell differentiation. I will discuss a potential mechanism that links FGF1 secretion to persistent β cell activation.
