End Date / Time May 1, 2013 at 10:00 AM
Duration 1 hour(s)
Location 512 Light Hall
Presenter Name Mingyu Li (Chen lab)
Presentation Title Title: Molecular mechanisms of overnutrition-induced β cell neogenesis in zebrafish
Status This meeting has already occurred

Meeting Agenda/Notes

Overnutrition induces rapid β cell differentiation in larval zebrafish but how overnutrition is sensed and what factor(s) mediates the differentiation remain unknown. I will present data showing that persistent activation of β cell secretion and FGF1 are necessary for overnutrition-induced β cell differentiation.  I will discuss a potential mechanism that links FGF1 secretion to persistent β cell activation.
