Experienced microbiologist with formal training in microbiology, molecular biology, immunology, epithelial cell biology, cancer biology, and animal models of disease. Very proficient in working with Gram-negative microorganisms, bacterial genetics, molecular cloning, RNA/DNA isolation and purification, PCR, qRT-PCR, recombinant protein expression and purification, immunoblotting, immunoprecipitation, ELISAs, immunofluorescence microscopy, flow cytometry, cell culture, ex vivo tissue culture, and extensive experience working with animal models.

I am currently working as a Research Assistant Professor of Medicine at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where my research focus is to define mechanisms by which the gastric pathogen, Helicobacter pylori, induces gastric inflammation and neoplastic transformation. The ultimate goal of my research is to identify biomarkers and risk factors that augment the risk for gastric cancer.
