I am interested in understanding mechanisms by which the oxygen sensing machinery regulates endothelial cell specific responses under physiologic and pathophysiologic conditions. Our recent studies identified a critical role for endothelial HIF-2 in regulation of post-ischemic kidney injury and inflammation. Current studies focus on exploring further the cytoprotective effects of endothelial PHD2/HIF axis utilizing transgenic mice, molecular biology, biochemical, metabolomic and cell-culture approaches.
