I am working on a project aimed at understanding the molecular mechanisms involved in the differentiation of stem cells into cardiomyocytes, with the goal of using this information to help develop novel strategies for treatment of heart disease.  My work focuses on optimizing the engraftment of stem cells into infracted myocardium in mice.  This work requires collaboration with several other research groups at Vanderbilt and utilizes state of the art in-vivo imaging technology to document and analyze experimental results.  Growing up in Montana, I enjoy time in the outdoors.  When not working, I am frequently found fly-fishing, backpacking, camping, hunting, horseback riding, and canoeing.
