Jill joined the Division of Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism in 2016, where she serves as a Projects Manager for various scientific projects within the Al Powers group.

She is a long standing Vanderbilt employee whose career spans clinical research, basic research, secondary education, website application support and project management.

Jill began her Vanderbilt career as a research assistant in the Rabin lab developing and performing radioimmunoassays for reproductive hormones, studying hormonal secretion in cell lines, fractionating human serum via column chromatography and assisting with clinical research performed in the Clinical Research Center, VUMC.

Jill then migrated to basic research in the Magnuson lab where she performed gene targeting in mouse embryonic stem cells (mESCs), DNA microinjection,  mESC injection into blastocysts, microsurgeries, and a variety of other techniques designed to study genes related to diabetes.

While working as a Senior Research Specialist in the Magnuson Lab, Jill completed her Masters of Education and took a one year hiatus to teach high school Biology and Ecology at John Overton High School, Nashville, TN.  

She subsequently returned to Vanderbilt and worked as an Application Support Analyst where she taught individuals how to utilize Labnodes, a web based application designed to help scientists manage their research.
