Labnodes, formerly VanderbiltResearch.org, was launched in response to the refreshing of the Basic Science Strategic Plan for the Vanderbilt University Medical Center, which took place in early 2008. At that time, VUMC investigators expressed the need for a web-based platform that would enhance communications, facilitate collaborative research and streamline regulatory compliance.
The vision for Labnodes is to create a platform that will "connect the dots" between people, communities, resources and publications, and to provide this information to users via intuitive, dashboard-type views.
The software for this platform was written by Greg Baboolal, Thomas Houfek, Josh Norman and Chris Howard under the guidance of Jean-Philippe (J-P) Cartailler within the Vanderbilt Center for Stem Cell Biology. Creative Data Solutions provides support for all users of Labnodes through documentation and training.
The project was supported by funding to Mark A. Magnuson from the National Institutes of Health, the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation and Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
